JAMMU: In a glaring instance of alleged administrative malfunctioning, Principal Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Meenu Mahajan, in her capacity as holding additional charge of Principal Government MAM, College, Jammu has appointed one senior faculty member as in-charge Principal of the same college to look after the administrative issues.
Circulated widely among college teachers in length and breadth of the Union Territory of J&K, the order bearing No MAM/Coll/23/2979 dated 5/12/2023 has become hot topic of discussions and termed not only as erroneous but also an act of openly undermining the indomitable authority of administrative department.
Interestingly, the Higher Education Department (HED) vide order No 300-JK (HE) of 2023 dated 27/10/2023 has assigned additional charge of Principal, MAM College to Meenu Mahajan, Principal GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu till the present Principal joins the duty.
Terming this order as erroneous, a faculty member of GDC, Samba maintaining anonymity told JK Global News, “Appointment of In-charge Principal is the domain of administrative department”.
This order seems to be issued in a lackadaisical manner which is evident from the fact that it is neither intimated to administrative department nor authorities in Cluster University of Jammu which is a matter of serious concern in administrative matters, he further added.
Even, the discreet silence of HED on a serious issue involving NCC cadets and one female teacher which was surfaced during the tenure of this Principal in her previous place of posting shows that concerned authorities goes extra miles in extending special predilection upon her, sources alleged.
When contacted on official mobile number for clarification on the matter, spouse of Principal GCW, Gandhi Nagar while attending to our call said, “She is on rest at home owing to an injury”.
