Is Basanth Rath a confused Genius?

Basanth Rath, a former IPS officer and known for his eccentric social media posts after hibernation this time has trained his guns on the incumbent DGP of J&K Union Territory, Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Swain. The Facebook post dated March 24, 2024 appears more as a damaging tirade rather than suggestive of something substantial and lacks visionary approach. Not expected from a JNU aluminius. The choicest expressions used in the post reflect a confused mindset especially when no sensible citizen in J&K believes in what has been written about an upright police officer with impeccable integrity.

As usual, Mr. Rath is pining for security cover as and when he campaigns for the so called leaders of NC, PDP and Cong in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in J&K. He has a huge agenda of pressing into motion the smear campaign against one and all when his credibility is at stake. For whom, he is campaigning is quite evident from the fact that even the ruling dispensation disowned him for a much touted foot soldier joining a particular party ruling at centre. Anyhow, let him try his luck.

The learned ex IPS officer prior to his ill worded communication must have pondered as to why he is soiling his hands and earning ignominy for the same knowingly well that the misconceived social media posts are not taken kindly by the well meaning people. The contribution of Mr. Swain in tackling the rising narco terrorism is commendable and he doesn’t need any certification from any unsolicited quarter. Tackling the complex modules of narco terrorism especially in J&K UT is not as simple as visualised by some and within a short span of time after taking over reins of J&K police, the results are palpable.

Instead of indulging in vilification campaign against Mr. Swain, let Mr. Rath, as a responsible citizen who if really concerned about drug mafia open his cards close to his chest and spill his beans forthwith about the names of men in khakhi acting as hench men of drug cartels. This is what is expected of him for the betterment of society.
