After a decade an elected Government has to take hold of reins shortly in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The Assembly election results draw a sharp line between two provinces of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory where Jammu voted largely for saffron party in their misplaced enthusiasm while on the other side of the tunnel the majority community through the power of ballot sent a loud and clear message that they are not comfortable with abrogation of Article 370 despite ‘Vikas’ push in the valley with pomp and show.
As a matter of concern, the voters in Jammu province primarily comprising Districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi opted for saffron party but as per the election results, the hardcore Jammat as well as Er Rashid’s AIP have been openly thwarted by the Kashmir electorate in all their wisdom. For them, the NC seems to be a better option in an atmosphere of hate, bigotry, growing communalism and regional rivalries in J&K UT post abrogation of 370. In the same breath, it is a matter of serious introspection for BJP as to why their vocal commander in Chief in J&K UT has been slapped a crushing defeat in his own fiefdom.
But in the current scenario when the BJP dream of forming the government with CM from Jammu Province has been devastated unnecessary controversies are being generated by the vested interests and social media warriors who have their own axe to grind. Let the mandate be respected and defeat accepted.
For the new CM administration is not going to be a cake walk as there are a number of bureaucrats majority from allied services and non AGMUT cadre who have been imposed on J&K UT administration through uncalled deputation and entrenched in all significant assignments thereby developing an ecosystem of their own by sidelining some of our local personel from IAS and JKAS cadres. Furthermore the likely to be CM shall have to maintain a fine balance between Kashmir and Jammu province in the constitution of cabinet as well as Raj Bhawan to shut loud speakers of communal forces in the otherwise secular J&K UT. Least but not last, the Union Government shall also have to be large hearted in extending all desired support to the new incumbent CM in J&K. Watching the growing frustration prevailing among communal forces in the aftermath of results, the coming days are very crucial and we are keeping our fingers crossed.
