Reading anew the preamble to the constitution reminded of the current state of polity as fresh blood still circulates in my veins. Despite many quantum jumps in some areas the missing concept of righteous governance agitated. Human Development Index revealed a dismal picture. Majority of people in our UT don’t have access to hygienic drinking water. Poor sanitation stares in the face as distressing pictures of residents living amidst overflowing sewers disturb a sane mind.
Education-the life blood of the civil society is practically in shambles in the light of Apex Court’s recent 38- page orde of January 18 which most of our UT media soldiers did not bother to report. Students have been left high and dry despite implementation of ambitious National Education Policy 2020. Quantitive expansion in our UT of Higher Education at door step touted by our politicians has worsened the scenario as with naked eyes a Degree College was sighted operational nearby a cremation ground and another overseeing a stinking garbage heap in the winter capital. Worst is the lot of GDC -Sidhara which was established by our most capable bureaucrats amidst Tawi. Hopefully, someone somewhere shall ponder for a while if imagination is in order.
Why not have bird’s eyeview of Health sector ? A parallel system of medicos apart from totering government sector is doing a roaring busines with medical mafia for a kick buck. A picture of a pregnant woman being carried by able bodied to a hospital in Chenab Valley area literally jolted. Alas! Who are we? A word about social fabric by and large sucked out of human values. Common place divisive politics pricks the sinews of heart and blood in veins congeals. Diatribes inching towards hate for any view or opinion is a disturbing trend as also majoritarian magic. Tolerance, accomodation and respect for one another have vanished into the thin air. Let those, who pose to matter the most not abidicate their responsibility and do some soul searching on 77th Republic day before it is too late. Youth is watching with a bated breath and their wounds must be healed.
