Ranchi: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) crisis deepened after all three serving members—Ajita Bhattacharya, Anima Hansda and Jamal Ahmed—resigned amid an intensifying student agitation over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The resignations, accepted by Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on the state government’s recommendation, came as protesting aspirants continued to press for accountability and an independent probe.
The Jharkhand government has agreed to cancel the JPSC preliminary examination and has also proposed scrapping two other examinations, but the move has failed to satisfy the protesters. Students are demanding a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities involving JPSC and JSSC examinations, along with action against those responsible.
With talks between the government and student representatives failing to end the deadlock, protesters have announced a march towards the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi on Monday. The prolonged agitation has put mounting pressure on the government to deliver a broader resolution acceptable to the aspirants.
