    Annoyed DC ‘orders’ doctor arrest

    DAJ calls for indefinite strike from Monday for action against Prasana Ramaswamy

    Reasi: A senior doctor have to face the ire of the district magistrate here today when the former argued reasonably with the head of district administration over medical checkup of some candidates gathered at counting centre of municipal elections.

    As per highly placed sources, Prasana Ramaswamy, DC Reasi today called Medical Superintendent of district hospital Reasi for deputing a medico for checkup of two contesting candidates who developed some medical complicacy during ongoing counting of votes for ULB elections.

    Acting swiftly, MS depute Dr Ashwani to look into the matter. Realizing, something happened to Prasana Ramaswamy, Dr Ashwani met him in the make shift office at votes counting centre.

    However, the situation took ugly turn when Dr Ashwani enquired about DC as to what has happened to him pertaining to his health, said a senior official preferring anonymity. Seeing situation turning hostile, some officers intervene and apprised the said medico that instead of district magistrate the medical checkup is being required for some contesting candidates.

    According to sources, later the DC verbally asked Dr Ashwani to remain present at counting centre till 4 pm to which the later clarified that he rushed amidst checking of patients at OPD in hospital here only to medically examine the district magistrate as per available information.

    Even as Dr Ashwani tried to convince the district magistrate pertaining to the long queue of patients waiting for him at OPD in hospital, the later got angry and called SHO Reasi Inspector Ashwani Sharma and allegedly ordered arrest of beleaguered doctor.

    Dr Ashwani was buckled by the said SHO in a gypsy and was taken to police station, confirmed a police officer on condition of anonymity.

    Agitated over the humiliated treatment and dictatorial attitude of DC Reasi the doctor at district hospital went on strike demanding removal of DC Reasi. Sensing situation going out of control, later the police released the doctor.

    Meanwhile, the Doctor Association Jammu has called for complete strike from Monday till the state government ordered action against the errant DC. The DAJ also appealed the doctors to refrain from visiting any bureaucrat residences or office for medical checkup to stop VIP culture.
