SRINAGAR: The residents in valley is all set to relish watching movies on big screen after three decades as the LG Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated multipurpose cinema halls within Pulwama and Shopian districts. Cinema halls were forcefully shutdown in 1990 after the separatist armed insurgency erupted in Kashmir region.
“Today is a historic day. Multipurpose Cinema Halls at Pulwama and Shopian will offer facilities ranging from movie screening, infotainment and skilling of youth,” Sinha said. A first of its kind multiplex is also likely to be thrown open to the public in Srinagar during this month.
There is lot of enthusiasm among the residents of Kashmir on the opening of two cinema halls. The residents describe the move as a step to offer entertainment to valley youth who were remain deprived of such facilities by the separatists for their vested interests. More such Cinema Halls will soon be inaugurated in Anantnag, Srinagar, Bandipora, Ganderbal, and Doda districts.
