JAMMU: Entangled in religious controversy, the proposed mechanised parking on useless land lying adjoining a temple at Panjhbakhtar road has been suspended by Jammu Development Authority pending title verification of the land by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
The parking which was being planned by the District Magistrate as part of Smart City project mired into controversy after certain religious and political organisations raised their objections over a fact in NIT wherein JMC was shown as owner of identified land.
Stating that refrence of JMC as owner of land in NIT for constructing mechanised parking was an inadvertent error, the Vice Chairperson JDA, Babila Rakwal vide letter No JDA/VC/2020/1988-90 has requested Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for expeditious verification of land title so that the process for parking in the larger interest of people can be taken up following due process of law.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner JMC Avny Lavasa vide letter No JMC/RB/PS-135 dated 6/9/2020 and addressed to Principal Secretary H&UDD while rebutting all allegations directed against JMC clarifies “JMC never made it’s claim on land at Panjhbakhtar road nor involved in the construction of parking”
The aggrieved instead needs to verify with concerned department , agency or organisation involved in this proposed project, asserted Avny.
It’s worth to mentioned here that there is a vast piece of land lying as useless adjoining a temple at Panjhbakhtar road.
The district administration has identified this land for mechanised parking under Smart City Project to create facility for surrounding business hubs which are facing continue loss in their business due to poor foot fall on account of absence of parking in the area.
On the long pending demand of bussiness fraternity and people, the District Magistrate has proposed a mechanised parking in Residency area on a land lying adjoining a temple at Panjhbakhtar road, said Rohit Gupta.
But, the caretaker of the temple has objected to it by staking claim over the piece of land lying adjoining to the temple, added Rohit.
Later, realising the matter as green pasture several political and religious organisations aggravate the issue by dragging religion into the cause of city develomment, asserted Yoginder Pal.
There are several refrence where for cause of develomment in UP, Agra, Delhi and several cities across the country, the religious place were relocated with due respect, said another shopkeeper namely Jagdeep Raj.
What’s wrong if the authority only proposed to develop a parking on land which is lying useless since long adjoining the temple, he questioned.
