JAMMU: Expressing serious concern over high morale of criminals and rising graph of unlawful activities in Jammu city, the Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary has underline the immediate need for replacement of inefficient SHOs with competent and responsible officers to head police stations where crime is running rampant in streets without fear of law enforcement agencies.

Interacting with media persons during his visit to a Hospital here on Saturday, Deputy CM said, “For the past few years, the Jammu has slipped into the clutches of drug mafia and this problem has been further compounded with growing incidents of murders, dacoities, assaults, snatching and burglaries”. He blamed surge in crime incidents as well as rampant sale of drugs in nook and corners of city in Jammu due to poor network  as well as undesired behaviour of some SHOs with public in their jurisdiction.

Asserting that the way criminals are striking fearlessly with fire arms and swords in Jammu has raised serious concern about the safety and security of citizens who are already living with anxiety due to growing tentacles of drug mafia, the Minister told media persons, “This raises question mark on the functioning of some police stations and those heading it.”

Seeking immediate attention of LG as well as DGP for corrective measures to restore shaken confidence of public, he said,”The repetition of same set of sycophant cops as SHOs has done more damage than good to the system and those commanding police in J&K UT should not hesitate to identify and act against incompetent cops for the larger interest of the society.”

It is worth to mentioned here that former Mayor of Jammu, Mr. Rajinder Sharma while expressing serious concern over growing clout of drug mafia in Jammu has urge the LG for fixing accountability of SHOs besides ending undesired practice of repeating a set of blue eyed police officers as SHOs from one police station to other.
