Bhopal: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday advised women to only produce ‘sanskari’ babies instead of the ones who deform the society.
“Women should rather remain infertile than produce kids who are not ‘sanskari’ and who deform society,” Guna MLA Pannalal Shakya said on Wednesday.
He was reportedly speaking at an event about the reformation of society. Shakya also accused the Congress of wiping out the poor instead of poverty. “Congress came up with the slogan of ‘Gharibi Hatao’ but instead wiped out the poo r.There are women who give birth to such leaders,” he said.
The BJP MLA said that reading about a positive incident reminds him of Kaushalya, who gave birth to Lord Ram. This is not the first time that the lawmaker has made an atrocious remark. In the past, he advised women not to make boyfriends as it leads to crimes against women.
“Recently a journalist asked me why crime against women was rising in MP. I posed a counter-question: tell me why do girls have boyfriends? When girls don’t have boyfriends, there will be no harassment,” Shakya had said in March.
He had also asked boys to refrain from embracing the “western culture of making girlfriends.” Not only this, Shakya had also criticised Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli for his choice of the venue of his wedding. He had questioned Kohli’s patriotism as he married actress Anushka Sharma in Italy. “Virat had made money here (in India) and splurged millions of rupees in Italy on his wedding,” the Guna MLA had said.
