Rajasthan: In a shocking incident, another lynching has been reported from Ramgarh in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The lynching was done on suspicion of cow smuggling and comes a year after Pehlu Khan was lynched by vigilantes in the same district for the same reason. Pehlu Khan died later and the incident caused massive stir nationwide.

In this case, the victim has been identified as Akbar Khan, hailing from Haryana. According to reports, he was bringing two cows from his native village in Haryana to Ramgarh when he was intercepted by a group of men. They turned out to be cow vigilantes who suspected Khan to be a cow smuggler. Khan was badly beaten up and he died in the spot. Currently, his body has been kept in the Alwar government hospital. A medical board has been constituted to do the post-mortem.

A large contingent of the police force has arrived at the location and has begun a probe into the matter. Police officers were, however, tightlipped and refused to speak on the incident.

The Central government has asked the states to become more proactive in stopping lynching incidents across the country. SC has suggested that Centre should make a law to deal with such cases. WhatsApp too in its part has put a cap on forward messages which often leads to circulation of rumours leading to such unfortunate incidents. But still lynching cases continue to be reported from across the country.
