Another overloaded bus consumes 10 precious lives in an accident at Jhajjar Kotli. As a precedent, the ex-gratia relief came quickly. Strangely, the tragic mishap failed to draw attention of the authorities towards the fact that how a 50 seater bus with 76 passengers managed its ill fated journey inside J&K UT. This exposed the malpractices prevailing in RTO office Lakhanpur as well as traffic cops and police functioning.

Besides, one Naka of RTO office at Lakhanpur, the road from Lakhanpur upto Nagrota round the clock remains guarded by special nakas of traffic cops and police. Then, who allowed overloaded bus bearing No UP 81CT 3537 to proceed towards Katra is a matter of investigation to fix responsibility. Without permission and adhering to seating capacity norms no tourist bus can move freely on roads with immunity, unless there is a nexus among concerned government agencies and transport mafia. The LG administration must order a time bound probe headed by an officer of impeccable integrity to punish those allowed movement of ill fated overloaded tourist bus towards Katra.
