Jammu: An alarming trend being pursued vigorously by self styled journalists wherein media tag is being rampantly misused to justify their wrong deeds.
Though, there are several such incidents where unexpected behavior of self styled media persons has diminished the dignity of journalism, however a recent incident of scuffle involving a cameraman with respected citizen at 2 AM outside later residence in Gandhi Nagar attributes to a practice which seemingly incompatible with the field of journalism.
On November 13, Gandhi Nagar police arrested Aseem Ghai, a resident of Gandhi Nagar after one Alok Pathania claiming to be cameraman associated with some little known Hindi newspaper along with his friend namely Satyajit who happened to be a lawyer have complained that the duo have been fired upon by Aseem. This incident took place at 2 AM in the intervening night Nov 13 and as per the statement of the complainant the alleged accused fired three rounds from his pistol which strangely missed to the ‘victims’.
Terming the entire version of complainant as cock and bull story, Aseem Ghai who happens to be a suave young guy and belongs to a very respectable family of Jammu said “ Its sheer misuse of media tag where the accused merely by playing smartly manage to project themselves as ‘victims’.
Further narrating the incident he said “At 2 AM, I came down to see off two of my friends after dinner party suddenly we noticed a car parked across the road in front of my residence in doubtful activity. As we were trying to identify the car registration number suddenly guys sitting inside it allegedly start abusing us”. Later, the car turned toward our residence and three to four guys allegedly in inebriated condition came out and start thrashing us, alleged Aseem adding the violent guys even chased us inside our residence”. I was framed in a fake case merely by the cocktail of media and a lawyer tag, he lament.
JKGN investigation reveals that none of the inhabitants surrounding Ghai’s residence have heard sounds of three bullets which according to the complainants were fired upon them by Aseem. Even, the CCTV footage which JKGN have managed to procure from the nearby location failed to substantiate the allegations of victims pertaining to use of fire arm as there is no flash visible from the spot which must follow on trigger of bullet from pistol. Presence of car outside Aseem Ghai at 2 am should remain area of in-depth investigation for police without according any importance to either accused or victim professions, opined a senior Journalist of national repute preferring anonymity.
