Jammu: Teachers are meant for imparting education to students but adding an insult to the most revered profession a bureaucrat by flexing his authority is utilizing the services of one government teacher as cook at his home in Kathua.
As per reliable sources, teacher Parshotam Sharma allegedly working as a cook at residence of one bureaucrat who is posted in district Kathua.
The said teacher was earlier working as laboratory assistant and got promoted as teacher a couple of years ago.
As per records, Parshotam is presently posted as teacher in government middle school Girwachak in district Kathua.
However, instead of imparting education to the needy students, the services of Parshotam Sharma are being utilized as cook in the home of an influential bureaucrat.
The government schools are facing acute shortage of teaching staff in the state and its unfortunate that a bureaucrat in district Kathua has allegedly attached a teacher for taking care of kitchen at his home, said a senior officer of school education department preferring anonymity.
Recently, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali after assuming charge as minister for school education has categorically stated that the teachers are only meant for percolating education to students in the state and there services will no more be utilized for any other assignment which adversely effecting quality of education in the state.
It is also learnt that the bureaucrat in whose home a teacher is serving as cook on many occasion has tried to interfere in the smooth functioning of education department in district Kathua merely on account of his personal ego.
“The egoistic officer always tried to flaunt his authority and instead of rendering any legible support to the education department in district Kathua has habit of threatening officers with suspension and attachment for the reasons best known to him, alleged another officer preferring anonymity.
