JAMMU: Caught in the game of snake and ladder, the much needed recruitment of 600 Safai Karamcharis in Jammu Municipal Corporation has been branded as ‘Jinxed’
Such is the plight of this selection process that whenever authorities geared to conclude it either the Joint Commissioner or Commissioner gets transferred which eventually led to the branding of this first ever mega recruitment of SKCs in JMC as “Jinxed.”
The notification for recruitment of 600 SKCs was advertise by JMC vide order No 01 of 2018 dated 26-06-2018 and since then three Commissioners and two JC (A) were transferred prematurely.
Earlier also the predecessor of recently transferred JC (A) when accelerate the process for selection of SKCs he met the same fate as his successor, added JMC insiders.
After inordinate delay of more than a year, the selection process has gained momentum but it again came to standstill due to the premature transfer of Jt Commissioner (A), said one JMC officer preferring anonymity.
The problem was further compounded by the LG administration which shows keen interest in transfer of incumbent JC (A) through a single order No 03-JK (GAD) of 2020, dated 04-01-2021 sans his successor, said JMC insiders.
It’s intriguing to see that despite lapse of one more than a week, the UT administration has not been able to find one “suitable” officer for posting as JC (A) in JMC, sources added.
If the officers in JMC keep getting transfers pre maturely then the final selection list of 600 SKCs would never ever see the light of the day, said Rinku Gill President, Safai Karamcharis Union.
