    Kashmir 2006 sex scandal: CBI court held five guilty, two acquitted

    Srinagar: A special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday held five persons guilty in the infamous Kashmir ‘Sex Scandal’ case. Two accused have been acquitted, as per reports.

    According to reports, those held guilty by the court are Shabbir Ahmad Laway (Shabir Kala), Shabir Ahmad Langoo, Masoor Ahmad (Maqsood), DSP Mohammad Ashraf Mir and DIG BSF KC Padhi.

    Businessman Mehrajuddin Malik and then Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir High Court were acquitted by the court. as reported. The court would pronounce the quantum of sentence next week.

    The scandal came to light in 2006 when the J&K police discovered two video CDs showing Kashmiri minors being sexually exploited. The minors were forced into the sex trade and were exploited sexually by politicians, bureaucrats and police officials.

    After questioning the minors, the police gathered names of 56 people allegedly involved in the scandal, the report said.

    The case was transferred to the CBI after names of two J&K ministers, top bureaucrat  and several MLAs emerged during the state police investigation.
