Highly unethical behavior of one reporter during an interaction with Commissioner JMC, Ms. Avny Lavasa, constrained me to say that I have not seen the news person as shamefully unprofessional as the one who claims himself to be a “Journalist” and associated with ‘The Fourth Estate’ news portal.
In parlance of Journalism, this interaction of one quack Journalist is no way regarded as Interview. It was a clear attempt to act like a vulture and pose personal questions as part of a pre tutored exercise planned at the behest of disgruntled persons.
Posing personal questions in interview is unprofessional and shameless. Hope those managing the desk at The Fourth Estate aware of the code of ethics in Journalism.
Ms. Lavasa deserves pat for repeatedly reminding the unprofessional guy about his poor knowledge about the area of discussion and showing him the fit place to which he belongs. The officer have proven track record of impeccable integrity and known for ensuring transparency in JMC-once considered as citadel of corruption and nepotism.
The netizens ire against the ‘The Fourth Estate’ and it’s ill trained reporter reflects the magnitude of respect this lady officer enjoys among general public. The public is a better judge and well equipped to decode the devilish plans and pangs of those who are sulking over the closure of their shops of corruption on the advent of Ms. Lavasa in JMC.
After all, there are news portals, who are carrying stories on the imminent transfer of JMC Commissioner for the last one year. This shows the level of frustration prevailing among those claiming to be real custodian of Journalism in Jammu and brags to be a leading newspaper and News portal of J&K.
There is flood of bashing against the parachute Journalist and it’s organisation Enraged over the condemndable behaviour of reporter during interview.
One netizens on FB comments “Such reporter can stoop to any level of degradation. While, the other wrote ” This happened when idiots start working as reporters in C graded news channels”.
Highly insensitive and personal queries reflects the level of organisation to which this reporter belongs, comments another netizens. Respect in peace Journalism, reads another comment.
Though there is no end to wide spread criticism ‘The Fourth Estate’ news portal facing in social media for acting like vulture in filthy interview, but the conspicuous silence of ‘Elders in Media’ and Press Club Jammu raised the level of rot prevailing in Journalism which once regarded as most respectable.
This issue bothers on the fact that every dicks and harry dabbles into this profession either to make ends meet or easily pick it up at the time of employment recession in J&K, says RTI activist Rajeshwar Jamwal. This is main reason for wide spread unprofessionalism and unethical working style of reporter, added Jamwal.
Precisely, Journalism as a profession especially in J&K has been hijacked by quacks or subtly put, people from other shaddy fields at the detriment of this noble
profession.
People running Dhabas, working as conductors, drivers, contractors and criminals are also start acting like Arun Shourie with mikes in hand. Non professionalism is rampant in Journalism and it’s a bane on this profession which entrusted with job of percolating healthy information in society and exposed what the Government is trying to conceal, added Jamwal.
In fact, these days, with mikes in hands and working at the behest of unscrupulous elements for jeopardising the society, these parachute journos have become source of mimicry for the citizens in J&K UT, Jamwal added further. This nonsense must be stop and the owner news organisation need to ponder on it with priority, Jamwal added.
Lacking desired qualification, these days, in an overnight anyone become Journalist sans a guide, experience and etiquettes. This is a dangerous trend and the public servants need to remained extra vigilant before allowing such Quack Journalists in their chambers.
