PUNE: A large gathering of girl students turned up in Pune on Sunday for an interaction with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, where education, employment, women’s safety and equal opportunities emerged as key areas of discussion.

The gathering provided an opportunity for young women to directly raise questions and share their concerns with the Congress leader. Students spoke about the challenges they face in pursuing higher education, building careers and securing meaningful opportunities in a competitive environment.

Rahul Gandhi listened to the students and stressed the importance of ensuring greater opportunities for women in education, employment and public life. He encouraged the young participants to speak openly, question existing systems and remain confident about their aspirations.

The interaction also brought into focus the wider concerns of young women about their future, particularly access to quality education, professional opportunities and a safe environment in which to study and work.

The sizeable participation of girl students gave the programme a distinct character, turning it into more than a routine political interaction. The students’ questions and responses reflected the aspirations of a generation seeking greater participation in decisions affecting their education, careers and future.

Rahul Gandhi also emphasised the importance of young people having a greater voice in the country’s democratic and social processes. He urged the students to remain engaged with public issues and to pursue their goals without allowing social or institutional barriers to limit their ambitions.

The Pune programme was part of Rahul Gandhi’s broader engagement with students and young people. The interaction concluded with students continuing to engage with the Congress leader, making the gathering a significant outreach event centred on the concerns and aspirations of young women.
