Jammu: Police stations are not meant for lodging First Information Report. This is exactly happening in Police Post Bani where police officer instead of acting under law against the accused reportedly advised the aggrieved complainant to approach his department for action against the assailants.

On September 2, 2018 Jagdish Kumar, head master Government High School,Ghuttu (Bani) of district Kathua has approached Sub Inspector Mohan for appropriate action under law against his staff members namely Mohinder Singh and Des Raj for assault on him in school office.

As per reports, the duo teachers have allegedly attacked Jagdish Kumar when later instructed them to deposits funds in bank. According to finance department circular, no official can keep government cash even for a day in personal possession.

Vide order No 04/18 dated 28/04/18, Kumar issued a notice to the duo teachers who are posted in GHS, Ghuttu instructing them to deposit the funds in government treasury. Through another letter bearing No 24/18 dated 31/08/18 the reminder was served to the duo teachers to deposit the concerned funds. However, instead of obeying to the official order both the teachers in question allegedly attacked Head Master Jagdish Kumar in the office and later locked him inside.

The victim after managing to escape from the school premises reached the Police Post Bani for assistance but shocked when sub Inspector Mohan paid no heed to his complaint and instead advised him to approach superiors in education department for action against the teachers.

Due to the murderous attack, the victim has received serious injuries on head and was referrred to Super Speciality Hospital for specialised treatment by the Kathua hospital.

“It’s surprising that instead of acting against the duo teachers for murderous attack on me, the SHO was covertly shielding the accused” rued Jagdish. “The police station is meant for lodging FIR on the complaint of victim whereas; the action of SHO is clearly in contradictions to the guidelines of SC, he added.

If sources are to be believed, the SHO Bani is allegedly hand in glove with accused teachers who also happen to be locals and getting cozy treatment from the said police officer.

JKGN made several attempts to contact SSP Kathua Sridhar Patil but he did not respond to our repeated calls.
