JAMMU: Merely for the sake of swindling of funds, the NBCC and officers of UEED started laying of sewarage pipes in Ustad Mohalla which the residents have termed as flop show and results in damaging Jammu Municipal Corporation property worth crores besides source of inconvenience for the public.
The agitated residents demands intervention of Commissioner JMC for action against the erring contractor and officials of concerned agency for deliberately damaging the JMC property.
Expressing anguish against the councillor for his discrete silence over this mess, the residents demands Anti Corruption Bureau intervention into the digging and repairing work executed by NBCC and UEED in Ustad Mohalla for laying of sewarage pipes.
Not only this, the contractor after laying of pipes has repaired the damaged lanes in contravention of laid down norms merely to garner maximum profit.
Strangely, when the residents raised their voice against the faulty repairing of lanes, the contractor and UEED officials shifts the blame towards Councillor of ward No 9 Suneet Raina.
“We are instructed by Councillor Suneet Raina to repair the damaged lane with concrete instead of re-fixing the replaced inter locking tiles” said contractor Manjeet Singh.
But the residents of Ustad Mohalla smells something fishy in this entire game of digging and repairing of lanes.
First, It’s a fraud on the development and this entire exercise is an eye wash for swindling of funds on the name of sewarage project, alleged Rajinder Kumar of Ustad Mohalla.
We have seen the laying of 6 inch cemented pipes which only smack of something wrong and wastage of state exchequer, he added.
It’s an eye wash exercise.Out of thousands of home, only 6 in the Mohalla were connected with sewarage pipes, avers another resident of Ustad Mohalla Rashid Ali.
The contractor who enjoys patronage of UEED officers merely to garner maximum profit has repaired the lanes with concrete which will washed away in monsoon, asserted Rashid.
Only an years ago, the JMC has improved the condition of lanes in Ustad Mohalla with laying of inter locking tiles worth crores.
Before digging, the agency as well as UEED have not obtained the necessary permission from JMC. As pee norms, after digging work done, the concerned agency is duty bound to restore the damaged lanes in its original shape. But, this is not being done as the monitoring department (UEED) is hand in gloves with the contractor, blamed Subash of Ustad Mohalla.
Even, the inter locking tiles worth lakhs which were scales out during digging of lanes and are almost perfect in shape were taken away by the contractor, alleged the agitated residents of Ustad Mohalla. These tiles belongs to the JMC and the way these are being taken away by the contractor amounts to theft which the JMC must take cognisance and lodged the FIR.
