Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old person was stoned to death in Muzaffarnagar’s Bhokaheri village allegedly by a man who accused him of eloping with his wife, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place last evening. The deceased was identified as Om Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Bhopa, B S Yadav said. He said a case was registered against five persons, including the woman’s husband Chandrapal.

The SHO said Chandrapal, who has been arrested, had accused Singh of eloping with his wife three years ago.

His wife has not returned to him since then, he said.Security has been tightened in the village to thwart any untoward incident.

Earlier in April this year, a 65-year-old man was stoned to death by drunk mango thieves in Palghar district of Maharashtra.

The incident took place at Laxmi Farm House at Usgaon in Bhatane near Virar.

The security guard identified as Paltu Rajbhar, was killed by four daily wage labourers whom he often met over a cup of tea.

According to a report, Rajbhar caught the accused when they started pelting stones at the trees to steal mangoes during night time.

However, after one of the accused was identified by Rajbhar, they started pelting stones at him during which he fell-unconscious.

Police said that the accused later crushed his head with a big stone, wrapped his body in a cloth and mat, and threw it near a river by the farm.A decomposed body of the victim was found days after the farm owner filed a missing complaint.
