JAMMU: After a long lull, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), a unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in arresting four hardcore dealers of drug cartel.
These arrests were made during crackdown launched under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan program of J&K government.
As per available details, the SSP ANTF, J&K Raj Kumar has constituted various teams to track and arrest the key players of drug mafia who are pumping narcotics in Jammu region
Consequently under the guidance of DySP Shamsher Singh, the sleuths of ANTF in multiple operations raided in Jammu, Punjab, Kashmir and Delhi and arrested 4 notorious narcotics suppliers.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently ANTF has arrested one Ramprakash Gupta s/o Ved Prakash Gupta of Link Road, Jammu who is a notorious narcotic drug supplier of the UT. On the basis of revelations made by Ramprakash Gupta, the name of one Delhi based drug supplier namely Mohd Shakir s/o Mohd. Aqil, r/o 7/6 upper ground floor, Ansari Road, Sachdeva lane, Daryaganj Central Delhi was came to limelight. Consequently, the ANTF led by Inspector Amandeep Singh raided multiple locations in the NCR and arrested Mohd Shakir from Jama masjid area, New Delhi.
In a second operation, the team of ANTF sleuths led by Inspector Sanjeet Sharma arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Mir s/o Farooq Mir R/O Bungam, Rajpura, Pulwama from Qaziquand. He was a prime accused in case Fir No. 2/2023 of PS ANTF Jammu and was evading his arrest for a long time. He and his brother are main suppliers of poppy straw in Rajpura Pulwama. His brother Arif Ahmed Mir is already arrested in FIR No 19/2022. The entire family is involved in transporting poppy straw from J&K to other states. In the same nexus, a father son duo Harvinder Singh Bassi and his father Digvijay Singh Bassi have already been arrested and lodged in jail few months back. The peddlers in this FIR were Nazir Qadir and Jaswinder Singh who were arrested with 830 Kgs narcotics and are currently lodged in jail.
In third operation, Inspector Varuneshwar Singh of ANTF Jammu arrested one Zahid Sheikh s/o Nazir Sheikh r/o Ranbirpura, Mattan, Anantnag. He was wanted in FIR No 3/23 at PS ANTF, Jammu. He used to receive drug from Delhi and distribute them among the local youth of Anantnag.
