JAMMU : Hectic lobbying is underway to bring back two blue eyed Principals to Jammu City.
If sources are to believed, the Principal of Government MAM College, Prof. G.S.Rakwal who is known for honesty and proven integrity is likely to be removed for adjustment of GDC, Samba Principal.
Though the Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department (HED) is in no mode to swap postings of GDC Samba and MAM College Principals. However, a coterie of teachers who are on an excursion trip to the Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) for the past several years are hell-bent for swapping of duo Principals for their convenience and personal interests. As a matter of fact, this coterie is also responsible for destroying the objectives for which the CLUJ was established.
Worthwhile to mentioned here that incumbent Principal of GDC, Samba, Prof Twinkle Suri last year transferred from CLUJ to Samba on her promotion as Principal. Prior to this posting , she was on deputation to CUJ for a long time. Moreover, since her appointment as teacher in HED, she enjoys the privilege of remain posted in Jammu City.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to push the authorities to recall another influential Principal posted in Kathua district to GDC (Women), Gandhi Nagar, revealed our sources
Sharing details, insiders in HED told JKGN “Merely to materialize their hidden agenda coterie of self styled king makers of CLUJ are often seen attending Darbar of one political party”.
For the last several years, the GDC Samba have either become a launching pad for Principals to return to Jammu city or turned into a transit camp for influential academicians fond of kitchen college postings.
Past trend vividly shows that prior to their premature transfer to Colleges in City, Principals namely Prof. Naveen Anand, Prof Uppal, Prof R.K Tickoo were transferred to GDC, Samba. Their stint of stay in GDC Samba as Principal is less than a year.
Premature transfers of college Principals sans performance criteria is playing havoc with the education and if not confine to rest on priority will prove disaster for New Education Policy (NEP) in Jammu Division, said one Principal, preferring anonymity.
“For administrative discipline and academic excellence in GDCs post implementation of NEP in J&K, the HED must ensure that apart from accomplishment of tenure parameters like efficiency, research work and administrative acumen must accord due weightage during transfer exercise”, he further added.
Efforts to seek clarification of Principal Secretary HED, J&K on any impending transfers of GDCs Principals’ could not materialize. However, reliable sources in HED said, “Premature transfers and kitchen postings of influentials enjoying clout in corridors of power is now a thing of past practices. There is no room for such impropriety in prevailing scenario”.
