JAMMU: Upside down, a doctor in Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu (GMCH-J) exhibiting the worst ever reference of popular idiom ‘Pen is mightier than sword’ has allegedly attacked one blood donor with a pen and inflicted serious injuries on head and stomach.
The bizarre incident has evoked wide range of condemnation from the citizens who are shell shocked about the aberrant behaviour of the medico.
“Instead of writing better prescriptions to the patients with the pen it’s horrible to see a medico is assaulting the attendants and blood donor with pen” said Rajinder Singh.
By his action, the medico in question should at least distinguish himself from sadakshap Gundas, said the lady patient for whom the victim arrived in the ward for blood donation.
Hired on contractual basis to serve the patients with his acquired knowledge in the department of Oncology, Dr Sunny Jandial over a trivial matter in the room pounced on the victim identified as Sarbjeet Singh and inflicted injuries on forehead and stomach of the later with pen.
The victim is associated with NGO Youth for Humanity which is doing yeoman service in providing blood to the needy round the clock.
Narrating his horrible experience in GMCH, Sarbjeet Singh said “Today I received a call for blood donation to a lady undergoing treatment for cancer in the Oncology ward and responding to it I reached the place and just pleaded the medico in question for exact quantum of blood required”
Reacting to our request, Dr Jandial losses his temper and using unwanted language asked guards to keep us out of the room, asserted Singh.
When I reasoned, he rises from the chair and attacked me with pen on my forehead and stomach, added Singh.
Later, the victim approached the HoD of Oncology and narrated the entire awful behaviour of the accused medico.
Strangely, the victim has also approached the Police Post GMCH for lodging of FIR against the accused doctor
However, the concerned officer is dilly dallying over the matter, alleged the victim.
Dr Ashutosh Gupta, HoD Oncology while confirming the incident told JKGN “The incident is regrettable and the young medicos should exhibit restraint while treating patient as everyone who step into the hospital is in agony”
On being contacted PP in charge GMCH Sub Inspector Avtar Choudhary while evading queries as to why no FIR has been registered against the accused medico in an apparent case of assault and injury to the blood donor said “I am little occupied and abruptly disconnect the call”
