JAMMU: A day before festival of Janamashtami, the Police have recovered huge consignment of banned Chinese thread notoriously called as Gattu from a godown in Talab Tillo and arrested two accuseds including a kingpin who was actively involved in sale and distribution of deadly manja to hundred of buyers as well as shopkeepers in several localities of Jammu.
As per reports, the Domana police team has arrested a shopkeeper namely Kishori Lal of Chinore and recovered 4 rolls of Chinese kite flying thread. Upon questioning, the accused shopkeeper revealed identity of a businessman who used to distribute for sale of Chinese manja through luxurious car bearing No JKO2AL 3404.
Consequently, the police team swung into action and nabbed Sahil Behl, a resident of Bakshi Nagar and recovered 44 rolls of banned Manja from his luxury car. Later, on his revelation, the police raided a godown in Talab Tillo and seized huge quantity of rolls total numbering 1082.
The police booked both accuseds and further investigation is in progress to affect more recoveries as well as ascertain the involvement and modus operandi behind sake, stocking and distribution of banned Manja adopted by the traders.
This is the biggest recovery of banned Chinese manja by Jammu police which was made by team led by SHO Domana, Inspector Mahesh Sharma under the direction of SP Rural, Sanjay Sharma.
The citizens have appreciated the efforts of Jammu police for seizing huge quantity of Chinese manja rolls prior to festival of Janamashtami and urged the police for initiating action under law against those involved in flying kites with this deadly thread.
