Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lashed out at Rahul Gandhi over his ambition to become Prime Minister and said it is now Karnataka’s turn to say goodbye to Congress. The Prime Minister was addressing a rally at Bangarapet in Karnataka.
Without taking Rahul Gandhi’s name, Modi said, “Yesterday someone made an important declaration – he said, “I am going to be PM!” He came like those bullies, barging his way ahead when there are others who have many years of experience.”
“How can someone just declare himself as the PM? This is simply nothing but arrogance,” said the prime minister.
On Tuesday, speaking at a gathering of prominent personalities in Bengaluru, when asked if he will become the Prime Minister, the Congress chief had said that it depends on how well the Congress party does.”If the Congress party is the biggest party, yes,” said Rahul.
The Prime Minister also said that the Karnataka election is not limited to victory or defeat, and it will decide the future of the state.
Polling for the 224-member Assembly will be held on May 12, and results will be”declared on the 15th of the month.
“During the UPA government, there was one Prime Minister and one remote control. In the NDA government, our remote control and the high command are the 125 crore people of India,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also added that there are the six evils that the Congress has brought on the nation — Congress culture – Communalism, Casteism, Crime, Corruption, Contractor system.
“When I am making toilets at such a large scale, am I making them for the rich? No, it is only for the poor. Those born with golden spoons will never understand the aspirations of the poor.” Union Broadcasting and Information minister Smriti Irani took a swipe at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
“Modi ji and Amit Shah are worried about future of people of this country while Rahul Ji thinks about himself. He said if his party comes to power he will be the PM in 2019. A person who does not trust his own leadership and ability, how can he expect people to trust him,” Irani said.
