    Workshop for Persons with Disabilities held in Kargil

    Kargil: The District Level Consultant Committee on Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) today organized a one-day workshop for the Persons with Disability (PwD) voters at Language Center here today.

    Chairperson of the committee and Deputy District Election Officer Kargil Nargis Banoo and other members besides around 60 Persons with Disability (PwD) voters from different parts of the district participated in the workshop.

    During the workshop, challenges and barriers faced by the PwD voters in enrolment in the electoral roll, access to polling stations in exercising their franchise, strategies for enhancing the participation of PwDs in the electoral process, appointment of PwD icon and other related issues were discussed threadbare. The PwD voters projected demands like the provision of separate queues while casting their votes to prevent rush and physical exertion, escorts to assist them to the polling stations and other related demands.

    Members of the committee while highlighting the role of every single voter in the electoral process urged upon the PwD voters to enthusiastically participate in elections by exercising their franchise. They also assured them help in redressing all of their genuine concerns.
